Introduction of water wings - beams

In front of the two articles have introduced the waterplane plate body and stringer,

then we come to understand the water wing of the beam.

The beam is connected to the stringer, the front and rear wing of the bar.

Most of the hydrofoil is one of the cross-beam, this design is more lightweight, more solid.

Beam length:

The length of the beam is varied, the average is about 750mm, basically a length of the front and rear wing can be connected; some out of the design aesthetic, the appropriate lengthened. When the beam is long, the upper and lower movement of the board will be more stable. However, it does not mean that the long cross-wing hydrofoil is more suitable for learning (control of the height of the hydrofoil requires rapid response, the beam is too long, not easy to slow down, for reference only).

Muscle memory How to control the hydrofoil height, feel the upper and lower movement of the hydrofoil, keep the balance will not be so difficult. High-speed taxiing, a slight change in the angle will feel a great response to the board, this time the height is more difficult to control. However, for high-speed taxiing, short stringers may be better than long, shorter beams are more maneuverable and easier to change height. When the waves, the need to cross a lot more than the stringer waves, this time it is necessary to quickly control the body up and down the movement to avoid getting into the waves, the advantages of short beams also reflected.

Beam shape:

The shape of the beam is usually based on the position of the front and rear wing. Design starting point is to minimize the resistance, the front section to the smallest, strong. Here we see the beam as an approximate box, from its length and width. The width of the beam is usually to take the screw hole, front and rear wing can be close to the fixed.

The height of the beam depends on its bearing capacity, it is not difficult to understand, that is, the bottom of the longitudinal beam to the front wing of the central force, the force point in the following figure marked with white fluorescent

During the taxiing process, the weight of the beam can reach twice the weight of the human body, the longer the front wing distance, the higher the load requirement of the beam. During the taxiing process, the beam will be twisted by load, so change the angle of the front and rear wing and can not slide.
